Light up the holidays!

Piedmont Town Center presents a fashionable way to celebrate the holidays and support the American Red Cross.

The event is free to the public and takes place from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 4, around the fountain at the center.

The highlight of the evening will be the lighting of the tree, which takes place at 6:30 p.m. Blue Sky Décor, founded by Joe Brandano, has decorated Piedmont Town Center this year. Brandano is nationally recognized for his work decorating the Rockefeller Center.

The inaugural Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration features live music around the circle at the center. Also on tap for the evening are a unique fashion show sponsored by Salon Vivace to benefit the American Red Cross and a pet costume contest.

The evening’s proceeds will benefit the Greater Carolinas Chapter of the Red Cross. That money will be used right here in our community to:

• shelter, clothe and feed victims of disasters;

• train thousands of people in First Aid, CPR and other life-saving skills;

• connect military members overseas with their loved ones at home;

• transport clients to and from much-needed medical appointments; and

• spread the Red Cross mission to our neighbors.

At the American Red Cross, 91 cents of every donated dollar goes toward programs and services.

About the American Red Cross

The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and counsels victims of disasters; provides nearly half of the nation’s blood supply; teaches lifesaving skills; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a charitable organization — not a government agency — and depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its humanitarian mission.
