Wells Fargo builds comfort kits for disaster victims

Wells Fargo employees across the country again this year put together American Red Cross comfort kits to be distributed to victims of disaster.

In Charlotte, 50 Wells Fargo volunteers built 598 comfort kits – in just a little more than two hours! Those kits – which contain basic toiletries – will be given to families in our region displaced from their home due to a home fire or other disaster.

November 8 is the second annual “Day of Service” for the Government and Institutional Banking division of Wells Fargo, and last year’s event produced nearly 3,000 comfort kits from 500 team members in 14 markets. Red Cross comfort kits contain shampoo, toothbrushes, washcloths and other basic essentials for disaster victims displaced from their homes.

This year, Wells Fargo employees have a goal of building 4,000 kits in 18 locations across the U.S., including Charlotte.

“We are overwhelmed by the generosity of Wells Fargo employees who give their time to make a difference in our community,” said Angela Broome, CEO of the Carolina Piedmont Region of the American Red Cross. “These comfort kits will help countless families after a fire, earthquake or other natural disaster.”

“We know that disaster relief needs are constant,” said Phil Smith, Head of Government and Institutional Banking at Wells Fargo. “We are thrilled to support the efforts of the American Red Cross again this year.”
