Note: This was a drill – these photos are of a staged event that took place last month. All injuries are fake and the fire was controlled.
On Oct. 22, the local American Red Cross provided nearly 80 volunteers to support a drill near Charlotte-Douglas International Airport. The drill simulates a plane crash so our first responders, including the Charlotte Fire Department, can practice their response efforts.
Volunteers were dressed as crash victims and placed in (safe) areas surrounding two (controlled) burning trailors. First responders and emergency workers practiced caring for crash victims securing the scene.
