The JOY (Just Over Youth) Bible Study Group of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Stony Point donated $300 to the American Red Cross through taking up a weekly collection. JOY has members aging in range from 61 to 100.

“We started about 35 years ago, and we’ve been quilting together every Monday and Tuesday since then,” said teacher Edith Walker. “Each week, we put our change in a basket; it’s not much, but we buy what supplies we need for quilting and donate the rest.”

In the past, the group has donated quilts to Fifth Street Ministries, local fire departments and rehabilitation centers. They have event sent some quilts to Africa as part of a study group member’s mission trip.
