The Gaston County Chapter held its 95th Annual Meeting and Volunteer Recognition dinner on Monday, June 25, at the Vineyards in downtown Gastonia.
Seventy volunteers, donors and community partners joined the staff and Board of Directors in celebrating the terrific accomplishments of our dedicated volunteers.
Two Board members – Mark Shellman and Phil Welch – were elected for a three-year term beginning in July, joining seven returning Board members.
Awards presented include Volunteers of the Year: Elaine Peeler, Disaster Services; Carol & Morris Teeter, Blood Services; Lucille Rinehart and Sally Dunn, Community Support; Nikki Richards, Office Support Services; Regina Fazenbaker, Health and Safety; Cameron Hunter, Youth Leadership Development; and Ashlee Wilson, Services to the Armed Forces.
Also, Bill Chase was the recipient of the 2011-2012 Chair of the Board Award.
All volunteers were recognized for their years of service, and we celebrated Joyce Blackmon’s recent achievement of 30 years as a Red Cross volunteer.
